I know a lot of the posts on here are more about socioeconomic and other deep issues, but after reminiscing with some old friends about our childhood card games, I have come to the conclusion that the 3rd season of the show and the cards that came with it were the best they ever were. Synchro summoning added depth and strategy that was missing with ritual and fusion monsters. From looking at the game today, it seems like that complexity has now gone overboard and it seems much less like a game geared towards the audience it is meant for, and seems to be emulating Magic in how much you have to do. The new art was some of the best we had and still have seen. There was also a huge leap in animation technology around that time, and it resulted in a stark contrast in the quality if the anime between it and GX. The characters were interesting and had arcs, turbo dueling was a great concept, there was just a ton of cool shit.

Maybe I have nostalgia goggles on, but it seems clear to me that 5Ds was the best time in YuGiOh's history. I'm really curious if someone here with more knowledge than I do can change my view!
