its main problem was that bryke made all the decisions with out aaron being there to guide it to make sure it all worked

and they made her gay for no reason

like that was back in 2014 the fag's wern't an issue then

every character in korra is a mary sue to an extent

because the fans shipped it

but since they all are mary sues it cancels it out

he was dead

Katara used the spirit water to revive him

He wasn't dead, he was near death

The strength was leaving his body, which included the spiritual connection he housed fading
