-1 hp +1 attack -1 speed +1 def same res (+ SPD) Ayra adds +16 damage with her special, 17 with her sword. Marth, adds +12, (with his sword) Lets factor in how marth can do more now. Marth has +1 attack than ayra, so lets give him another attack. Lets give them both a speed tactic now (the highest out of combat speed buff we can give), A +spd ayra (with her sword) does 19 damage. A marth does 16, 3 less but if you count his base attack stat, that's technically a total of 2 less damage. If we throw his fire emblem or any other buff that boosts his attack, he'll eclipse her in damage right away. While he can't compare to her ability to shit out the specials, he can come back from that with more damage as long as he has the support. Even if he doesn't have the support, he'd still eclipse her because of his special adding +4 to all his stats, including his attack and speed stats, 12+4 = what, 16!

Rewritten to be easier explained: Marth compared to Ayra stat wise: -1 hp | +1 attack | -1 speed | +1 defense | = resistance I'll compare two "similar" Ayra and Marth builds First off is their default weapons, Ayra has the speed special cooldown advantage so if she's +spd or facing a low speed unit, she has the ability to do more specials, and then more damage. Marth on the other hand can't compete with that amount of specials, and even then his special is inherently weaker, but he makes up for that by having +8 to everything after his first special, as long as he attacks after that, he'll have that +8 boost, effectively surpassing ayra in "raw damage" if you assume doubling, since well, he'd have 47 speed in a neutral scenario. Let's compare a very common Reddit build though, using a slaying edge instead. This now puts them on an equal playing field in terms of weapon, so now we're only comparing stats and specials. Ayra (+SPD with SPD refine) has 43 speed. That's 17 damage. Marth, (with the same setup) does 12 damage. While that's quite the difference, let's think about a few things. First off, Marth has +1 damage (stat wise) over her, so that's one extra damage, and if you're doubling, two. Let's keep it simple though. So he technically catches up a bit maybe. Alright, well after his first special, he will have +4 to every stat. This would bring his next special up to a 13, and he's also dealing four more damage, meaning he has a 5 damage boost over her, and her special of 17 only does 4 damage more which makes his attack technically higher damage, while having a defense and resistance buff too. Ayra doesn't have to attack right again though, which is the crutch of his special.

Comparing these two as units might not seem important since they're not the same, but they fulfill the same role as a red sword. Things like Marth's falchion having no cooldown reduction can be easily fixed by a heavy blade seal and him getting buffs (i.e. his fire emblem which would put him at a nice 58 attack) at the cost of a seal slot of course. Marth relies a lot on his "buffs" though, and isn't as purely reliable as Ayra, but if used in the right hands, he can easily overpower her. Marth's special also buff's the entire team, which might be important. Ayra is also waifu material, which adds a lot. I think the final choice, while not being clear as day, is most likely Marth as the better, unit, and dare I say, better Ayra. (Reddit likes him so he's shit though)
