In most fire emblem games, you start out fighting bandits/brigands and that's why the foes you fight are weak/shitty armor and classes

and by the end you're fighting actual cream of the crop troops

but, right now I'm fighting normal ass bandits with huge gleaming shiny armor, and insane skill

Even when they've got all the wealth and power they could want, they could never break their old habits of petty theft
