You have to beat the lich with the paradox character, then youre sent into a new run right away as that character, beat the game as that character/kill your past, then your past is just bullet hell but you fight two liches as the final boss

Luigis mansion 1 just has alot of stuff 2, and upcomming 3 seems to be missing, portrait ghosts seem to return but we have no idea if they're be as characteristic or interesting as theyre in 1, 1 felt a lot more like you were exploring the mansion too, darkmoon has nothing like that, and looking at 3, nothing like that exists as well

Luigis mansion 1 also has elements similar to a metroidvania in a way, though that seems to be the case in 3 as well- but three still looks linear mostly
