Octopath is a good turn based JRPG, but it has some flaws. For having 8 characters, the characters don't really interact much and have no rhyme or reason to be traveling with each other. There's no real "overarching plot" either if you're looking for that, but each character does have their own story of 4 chapters, and it should take you 4-6 hours to do 4 chapters and if we assume the median of 5 hours, that's ATLEAST 40 hours of gameplay, that's not including sidequests, exploring and etc. The sidequests though, or some of them seem to be bare bones, the path actions sometimes are gimmicky and not rewarding either. The battle system is good though, but the game is very easy, to a point where it's kind of sad. There is a sort of class system, as each character has a class, but also can acquire a subjub from the other classes. The game is very pretty though and runs nice. The OST is also INCREDIBLE. I'd say if you're really into these types of games then spend the money, but if not then wait till christmas, though the game is out of stock everywhere right now, so christmas might not have many sales.

Max, you should post that on MAL
I'm sure they'd appreciate it
i would totally get this game if it was ~40 USD
oh well
to be fair, max's estimate of 40 hours minimum is assuming your rush things and do not do sidequests
you can easily get 60-100 out of this game I imagine
I think 40-60 is more accurate than 80-100
People saying this is an 80 hour or 100+ hour experience are just wrong
Even though I'm sure you could spend that long playing, technically
How much time would you think 8 separate run throughs be?
8 solo runs?
idk why you would do 8 single character runs umbreon
Yeah
About the same
Interesting
Like Max said, the stories don't overlap until the end, maybe
So there would be a little more retracing your steps and re-visiting towns
If anything, you might run into a bit of trouble if you're doing all your sidequests on the first character
How does the class system work?
Because then the leveling experience later on might not be as fun
you find shrines that let you reclass as the class shrine yo ufound
you can change your second class whenever, and you keep your primary
So I could just make everyone a dancer yeah?
Given that Nintendo confirmed post-game
You're right Karp
But nobody knows how substantial it will be
second class is limited to 1 per character
Bullshit game
lol
Boycotting it
lol, I guess we can never have our 1v1 in League now Bopit
They killed my favourite champion apparently
tressa makes a very sustainable scholar
the 4th merchant support skill halving SP consumption
that is what I was thinking]
What a filthy powergamer
I'm not going to bother girnding the JP to put the best skilsl on everyone
