well anyway, after vassalizing and integrating cuckroaches and another secret custom empire of mine, i now finally have an actual loyal vassal

the other 2 hated me and the cuckroaches almost destroyed my empire from the inside

I've never not had a vassal not end up loving me shortly after taking them over

well that's because those first 2 vassals were fanatic killers

though

devouring swarm and purifiers don't like being controlled by aliens

could use a good old fasion PURGE

No that time I got a hivemind pop as a refuge in one of our multiplayer games

and it was fine

that's what almost destroyed me from the inside, i wasn't prepared for them to suddenly go sudoku 20 years after i expected them to do it

i still don't get how to vassalize diplomatically

it's hard

what even determines relative power

basically you can only relyably do it to really small civs near you

well there's a relatively small empire next to me that doesn't have much going for it

like when a planet rebels and becomes its own entity

or a primitive race acheves ftl and becomes a new power

idk its finiky
