you live in the Black capital of the world
how do you not have goodwills every 20 ft
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
There are some around new York city as a while
But iirc not a single one in my borough
Man, you really don't have a lot
Is that long island
I thought you were on Long Island
Nope
Other island
Staten island
you do have some
but it's strange
there's like a deadzone of good wills
on your island
what did you do
I have never been to a goodwill so I didn't do anything
there are ~10 on your whole island
meanwhile I've got 30 within 10 miles of me
Show me the map?
Google maps caps the number of pins
but this is my area, maxed the fuck out in a tiny radius
meanwhile your island
has almost none
The closest one to me is strictly a clothing place
who thought to name your island's college
"cuny"
City University of New York
It's a collection of colleges ran by the city
i also will never get over all your public schools just being numbers
that is one typo off from cunt
it's equally retarded
and one letter off from cunny
At least the high schools have names
Fire, if you didnt't know
in NYC
They probably have internal numbers too but
you'll say "I go to school #26"
"no way, I go to school #41"
I went to ps26 for half of 4th grade and half of 3rd grade
like that
and they think that's normal
Then I went to a catholic school
Then I went to IS 72 for all three years of middle school
that is actually really interesting
So the schools do technically have names
and incredibly depressing
But people more often refer to them by the number
Fire learning how to find Vinny
LEg, does Chicago do that too?
Fire already knows where I live
I thought that was just a NYC thing
schools being numbered?
i "know" as in i knew once and forgot
technically there are numbers but they are never used
ok, thank God
I find it REALLY dehuminizing
I'm glad it's just a NYC thing
I've been to three numbered schools, ps127 in brooklyn, ps26 and is 72 here on staten island
my high school's official name was Community High School District <number>
In Virginia, they're almost all named after the region, or famous (Virginian) people
the unofficial names are all based on region
Is72 was named after some random police officer
dutch schools are just named after great scientists or artists
Never found out what he did to make them name the school after him
plenty of dutch great people to choose from
Virginia runs the gambit, we have a LOT of famous people
since we founded the USA
