I use SSHDs because they are cheaper than ssds and faster than normal disk drives

there's no reason at this point not to just throw 1TB SSDs in most anything as a main disc

especially as an integrator, the cost is so low

But if you want to store more than that ssds are expensive

I still see people recommend 120GB SSDs as "boot discs"

but if you're going to spend an extra $50 anywhere, spend it on a decent SSD

Or get an NVMe instead

most use cases can't saturate 4x PCIe lanes

gen 3 or gen 4

SATA SSDs are still fine

I tell people just go for a 500gb normal ssd cuz theyre cheap and basically as fast as nvme

I just like how tiny they are

you can find plenty of stuff that will, it's just a pci form factor

there are overpriced accelerator cards, if you're doing a lot of vitalization you might want to passthrough additional GPUs or something, network card are pretty common, sound cards for the meme

Use it for ram

most of the time, you don't fill them all, especially if you think you might be pci lane starved

which will manifest as weird errors you'll never be able to diagnose
