because it's the gold standard for Linux
and its for the victims of grandkids replacing their windows with linux
as a consumer OS
I hate the taskbar in Ubuntu
and they have said they aren't going to fix it
I hate sidebar taskbars, but that's not my main beef with the OS
I am liking elementary so far
From a consumer standpoint, I think Ubuntu is the only thing that has any chance of being used
and even then
they shoot themselves in the foot over and over
elementary is supposedly targetted at being easy to transition to from windows/mac
Isn't ELOS built ontop of Ubuntu?
no idea
i chose it for aesthetics
RHL is the current flavour of the month distro for industry
but it was such a pain in the ass to get installed
hasn't redhat always been the industry distro?
yes, but it's only recently it's gotten good adoption
last ~3 years
that's the first linux I was exposed to
my dad had a pc with it when I was a kid
If you had asked me a few years ago
I would have had a completely different outlook on Linux
with Windows being a pile of shit, and most casuals not needing more than a web browser (a la chromeOS, MacOS, or whatever)
I really though Linux could have capitalized
(read Ubuntu)
https://developer.elementary.io/ they have a custom language for app development apparently
Developer ⋅ elementary
Resources for designing, developing, and publishing apps for elementary OS.
developer.elementary.iobrand loyalty ftw
yeah, it's just built ontop of Ubuntu
I mean it looks nice, I don't really know why I'd use it
but if I'm ever bored I'll throw it in a VM
Not custom language
Just a collection of resources
the thing says its c# but with native C functionality
Design language is common
yea
Baka
Vala
Not Baka, wow my autocorrect
I was wondering what you were calling me dumb about
Elementary is great
Not dumb, sorry
Didn’t mean that
i gathered
But yea, great is, app Center is great, lots of non-native apps are themed consintantly, unlike other diaries. Based off of Ubuntu and Debian, so lots of support and compatibility
I swapped to Debian about a month ago, but that’s because I wanted to make my own desktop environment
Any reason why you are dual booting
Just to mess around with Linux?
development
ah, alright
cool I got plex to share local data across boots too
Sorry I left I went to go play some video games, here are a couple of my reactions to the chat-
"he is one of my favorite side characters on the server"
I was pretty happy to see this, and I'm doing pretty well pika, I think it's really funny and accurate to describe me as a side character honestly
As for me being a strange pick, I like to think it's my optimism and genuine innocence of wanting everyone to be happy
who the fuck
oh is this lamp
At your service
oh hey loveland

wait is it?
i forgot
they're all the same
Does the server membership change or is it just the nicknames
