That's expected right now
How can you blame the falling stock market on Trump when there is an international crisis happening
He's taken actions to incentive people to stay home from work, away from crowds, things that prevent the spread of a plague
I hated that trump was trying to downplay coronavirus, you saw as much
But when he actually took action, he proved that he's going to deal with it sensibly
Trying to prevent panic and inspire confidence in our medical system
But everyone went and bought toilet paper anyway
To be fair, your medical system is fucked and so is mine
No country has the capacity for retards going to the ER en masse in a panic when they wake up with a runny nose

But I don't hate the Netherland's response, other than the fact it's condemning your own citizens to die
There's a valid argument for the government to either take massive preventative action, or to take no action
all the countries in the middle (including the US) are questionable
I think Trump and his government have done way more than a lot of countries, but it falls short of the drastic measures necessary to actually flatten the spread
So it because a question of "why bother"
I mean, when was the last time america ever went "all the way" with anything
The only countries that have gone all the way, are dictatorships
Which aren't necessarily bad
But half-measures, (or 3/4 measures in the US's case) don't achieve anything
We're famous for doing that in our war
But I think realistically, Trump couldn't have survived full measures
No one would subject to full isolation for a month, back on March 01

It has benefits, but the current problem is a lack of faith in officials (sometimes rightfully so)
same problem in the lack of faith in the police, military, public sector, etc.
People are still under the false pretense that they can fix it by being civil and voting
If you can't trust dutifully elected officials, your system is broken
Isn’t a lot of the distrust coming from the fact that people tell us to not trust them
You can fix a system by voting or through action, but not if the flaws in the system don't appreciably trickle down
No one is going to upheave a system, if their lives are pretty good in general
I think the media is a big part of it too Rusp, they feed that narrative
But in general, there's a nugget of truth there. a lot of career politicians who head important task forces

People get into office with a select set of skills, but then they're expected to know EVERYTHING
So you have to hire a shit ton of advisers and whatnot to fill the gaps in knowledge, which leads politicians to moments of seeming ineptitude

the only competent ones are the chiefs of staff, who are essentially handed a binder of instructions from the party on "how to be a politician"
