I have zero interest in a pet that isn't 1000% self-sufficient

fish tank, cool I can set it up and it just exists

you have to clean and feed fish

you can automate the feeding

maybe he has a self-cleaning/feeding tank

and in my experience, you can go 2 years without cleaning before shit starts to die

and you can get a fish that cleans it

water filters and dead fish

honestly, if you avoid the shitty decoration and get a saltwater tank

it can sustain itself for a while

I'd still rather throw it out and start over, than have to clean it though
