hosting costs all-in would be on the order of 5 cents per month, $0.00166/day
which is bad, but not terrible pricing
every time that video is played though, costs ~10 cents
the cost, to host a single video on Amazon, like you would on YouTube
in your own private instance, would cost thousands of dollars per year
that's just insane
its cheaper to build your own server for a couple hundred dollars
I was doing the math after looking at the cost for custom multi-gig lines
and wondering how much Amazon gouged customers
a 5G or 10G line (depending where you live) is only on the order of a few hundred dollars a month
and using Amazon own calculator, something that would cost me ~2k per year to do myself
