when i try to solve for the area of the thing in the middle i get a negative value and I can't figure out why
bottom equation is 1/x
is it 1/x and -x?
no its 1/x and the line betwee (n,1/n) and (n+1,1/(n+1))
so it is just a line though then
yes
how are you attempting to solve for the area?
integrals
obviously
dx probably shouldn't be on top of the last term
it doesn't affect my math though
yeah so the dx is affecting all the terms in that
so it is an integral over all of that
to be clear
1 sec
writting what I got out in latex
what i'm doing solves to this, which has a negative summation
to interupt this
i got another amazon ad
this has to be a marketing campaign
to just give me ads for retarded shit
anyways go on
how are you factoring out the y intercept?
oh I just wrote out the sum you had assuming it was correct
was not worrying about that
itr should be correct i've checked it like 5 times
the integral of a constant over a range of 1 should be equal to the constant so i just took it out of the integral
okay, well to me this looks fine, since while it is true that n^2 + n / 2n +1 will grow with as n, ln (n+1/n) should approach ln 1 as n ->inf so the entire sum should die off
idk if that is valid
just trying to figure out what the problem could be
your sum stays positive while mine is always negative
no idea how that happened, I did the same integral you wrote
Oh I see what I did
I forgot to factor out another negative
My bad
wolfram alpha
yeah you are right
i used desmos and it came out positive for every positive n
oh i put it in wolfram incorrectly
