I believe this analysis based on me and Polu playing. I did a lot of solo grinding and am probably like 40 levels ahead of him, but it never felt like we were doing different amounts of contribution to the stages

basically, when you hit an enemy it treats your damage versus the hp it would have if scaled to your level, then takes away whatever % of the total health that would be, so the level 30 and level 100 are arguably doing the same amount to the enemy assuming they have proportionately appropriate gear for their levels
