It's not that bad, it follows a rule and then there's a few characters that decide they don't follow that rule for some reason RIBA But it’s a lot more intuitive than trying to manage who gets item inheritance in fe4 😊

I don't like how complicated all of this feels. I really do just prefer the simplicity of earlier FEs. All the talk of comboing characters, creating perfect builds, using specific pairups.

using camilla as a backpack sounds really wrong taxes You can do camilla pairing and use camilla as a backpack for him or to make sophie also insanely nutty

I also just generally don't like the concept of reclass very much. I just like keeping units in their canon class even if it's suboptimal

Conquest is just the most recent Fates I played, so I know it the best, but yeah every map just felt a bit pointless when I had Xander/Camilla/Corrin. I didn't really use any other units very much.

I honestly can't explain it perfectly though because at the end of the day, it's just my personal opinion. I don't have a strong reason why I may like or dislike something personally.

Even if I do keep the units split, they're still sorta "one unit" in the sense that I always want them to stay next to each other. I don't really think in "these two units can do two different things" it's "these two units are going to stay together and accomplish something together"

I dunno, the Royals are so much better than everyone else that it feels like I may as well just stat backpack them and not engage with the mechanic of splitting up.
TinyBomby music
I don't like characters being relegated to being "stat backpacks" Fates/Awakening in general feel too snowbally where you're gonna get your good units (royals in fates) and ignore everyone else.

Ephraim is just so cool in FE8. He literally just says, yeah I can win this, and then does. If you do Eirika's route, he's pretty much soloing Grado.
