I'm trying to say, that's not the way the games are designed. Most people are nowhere near as patient or playing as safe as they think they are in the games, myself included. Phijkchu_Pikachu I am not saying you shouldn't die first try, I am saying in the hypothetical world where you have literally mastered all the me

Bopit's giving a semi-bad take there, imo, but then again I grew up playing D&D with DMs who had you enter every room like a SWAT team, searching the ceilings for Lurkers Above and the floor for Trappers Phijkchu_Pikachu and why darksouls is bad

If you're not forced into an easier difficulty, it's not really a problem for you, is it? Lute they should engage you nin the gameplay instead of braindead repeating the same inputs you have since the start of the game
sudo TPK games
Because if there was an easier difficulty, where enemies had less health or did less damage or some trash mobs were removed, you can still use summons, grind souls, enhance your gear, etc.
sudo TPK games
The question was, is there really a good argument for or against difficulty settings, permitting it's not eating up dev time that could be spent elsewhere?

And yet LFR in WoW is actually harder to clear than with a raid finder group on normal, sometimes even heroic, because you have to have SOME type of communication to put together even a normal mode raid.
sudo TPK games
In WoW & FFXIV, different levels of difficulty in raids aren't just numerically different, they're also mechanically different, but an MMO is a bit different than a primarily single-player game.
sudo TPK games
I can't find really a good argument for difficulty settings. Likewise, I can't really find a good argument against difficulty settings.

For some reason I had to re-read this three times because I kept reading it as "its all posting" Phijkchu_Pikachu its all posturing
sudo TPK rawb
What if someone in there has a massive phobia of rats, or someone has meltdowns when hearing/reading the words "wholesome," "toxic," "people," "content," etc due to massive tism?
sudo TPK games
Speaking of Souls games: I'm not advocating for implementing an "easy mode," as in an actual difficulty you can select right from the options, either before hitting "New Game" or before picking a class after hitting "New Game." That having been said: Is there really a good argument against different difficulties, ot

I don't think I've really experienced that. It may be that I have, and I've just subconsciously blocked out any inkling of blaming the controller or blaming the game if I fuck up.
sudo TPK games
So you're experiencing times where you tap the button with the intent to roll, but it reads it as you're trying to start sprinting instead?
sudo TPK games
I'm not sure what you mean with rolls being on-press rather than on-release. Do you mean rolling as soon as you tap, rather than waiting a few ms to check to see if it's a roll or the beginning of a sprint?

Luckily those weren't nerfed to the point of feeling useless. I'm talking things like Barricade Shield, which had its FP cost doubled and duration halved, effectively being 4x as much FP for the same duration, or Bloody Slash taking a massively higher chunk of HP, to the point where you can almost kill yourself at low

I've been saying since DkS2, when they did the huge nerfs in the patch SotFS came with, that they should have a "PvP power" stat, visible or invisible, where they can tweak numbers for PvP without killing it for PvE
sudo TPK games
And patch 1.03 for ER, a lot of shit people were bitching about on GameFAQs for PvP ended up getting massive nerfs, to the point where it feels useless for PvE
sudo TPK games
I guess I was just kinda scared that more shit would be getting nerfed, and nerfed heavy, because of spending too much time on GameFAQs boards. Balancing from at least DkS2 onward - especially MASSIVE nerfs, to the point where shit feels completely useless in PvE - has reflected what the FOTM for people on GameFAQs to

I hated Moonlight Butterfly until I did a sorc build. It's never a hard boss, but there are times where you can sit doing absolutely nothing besides an occasional roll for 45+ sec
sudo TPK games
I could imagine there are tons of times in ER where if you're playing only melee, it'd feel like you're fighting Moonlight Butterfly. ._. kaze there's a lot of downtime between attack windows if you're ONLY playing melee in er and that shit is frustrating as hell

Just saying I can understand the criticism of magic in the series, I just think my first experience, and how I've played mostly the entire series, makes me not really care about being a "pure caster."
sudo TPK games
That having been said, I started with a pyromancy build the first time through DkS1, which has significantly less casts than sorcery, and offensive faith I would've never figured out without reading a ton before playing.
sudo TPK games
I think I don't really have a problem with it in Souls games because from my first time playing DkS1, I felt magic was supplementary to melee, that it would be just way too frustrating to play the game without having knowledge of a lot of it to play with just magic.
sudo TPK games
It's kinda the opposite of old school D&D; instead of magic-users being shit at low levels and being able to delete everything at high levels, they're deleters at low levels and magic often feels more supplementary in the late game Spooky Phijkchu the endgame is really unbalanced
sudo TPK games
I haven't tried them, but it looked like you had to play in sort of a meme way, using mostly jump attacks Lute colossal weapons had pathetic damage it looked like when my friend was playing
sudo TPK games
Colossal swords were improved across the board, better blocking with larger weapons, but besides that, that's mostly it for physical buffs.
sudo TPK games
All you guys who haven't gotten your fill of Elden Ring yet: Thoughts on patch notes? Looks like so much of it is buffing casters, nerfing almost nothing that a caster-heavy build would be focusing on.
sudo TPK rawb
Oh, real quick, on slicing apples: Ignoring the unhealthy lifestyle of Rat Alice, if you want to eat apples with peanut butter on them, it's rather difficult to do without slicing.
sudo TPK rawb
Because it could be that it's not even autism, that it's just something else, but there's way too many options to try to guess there.
sudo TPK rawb
That's fair. I still won't say I'm 100%, but I'm even closer than the ~99% I previously was, and it still seems like there's a comorbidity on top of that.
sudo TPK rawb
I wasn't in sped classes or anything, but I've talked to enough over the years(and knew a couple that I actually considered friends, which is rare for me), it was pretty easy to see
sudo TPK rawb
Once someone even mentioned, I took a sidelong stare and it was more like 99% sure autistic and like 50% sure there was something on top of that.
