i agree its almost always to fall back to something Spooky Phijkchu I think most race storytelling is lazy, and in general they're usually just not that creative to begin with I like elves/dwarves, I'm not shitting on the tolkien-centricism or anything

so im more okay with their races because theyre not treated as singular cultures and are heavily tied to the actual world and history

and the background of 4 and 5 heavily

literally the plot of tes3 4 5 is about that

the entire world of elder scrolls though including the gods and history between every single game is a thinly veiled battle of man and mer (elf)

and the cats are like spirit people, but in the end the cats and lizards basically no one knows how they came to exist and they have no root to the actual gods

almost aliens

the lizard people are literally evolved like tree linked weird organisms

theyre elf allt he same

human, elf, cats and lizards

i think theyre some of the few well done ones because theyre heavily woven into the world and in actuality there's only 4 real races

a bit ranty but 99% of the time i actually just hate races in general, because theyre either not used at all, or are heavy handidly used as "look this is another culture. all of humans are one culture... and this race is its own culuture!"

to me low fantasy means there's magic and its in the background but there's not stuff like magical beasts or other races unless theyre really rare
