100% serious, I think a Space Elevator is the most important construction project to furthering Space exploration/colonization because what we need to do is shoot 100s of tons of metal at Mars to use for construction, which is logistically unfeasible even with heavy lift rockets

or source the metal on the planet

we have the material to do it now, but the international political will isn't there
