the straight line state
See, that looks so much better
actually pika
there's a better one
Ontario is mostly fine except the quagmire that is Toronto
wyoming's map
Honestly, just make it one district per state
the maps suck because.... you don't really need a map of it
you guys are directly voting for the leader anyways
they have 1 at-large district
you do not need districts
Yeah, just make it one seat per state
no districts
Replying to Phijkchu_Pikachu #klombak Yeah, just make it one seat per state
The senate does this
make congress do it too
You should have individuals recieve votes, and they get elected to some common house. The party with the most individuals is allowed to form the government
I think thats a good system
proportional systems are weird, in-practice they rarely solve problems because they add more incentive to gridlock and get dissolved as a do-over
and I sorta think democracies naturally trend towards a 2-party system
I don't think they have to
and if you look at history, a 1-party system
but that sample size is smaller
Replying to legorhin #jazardly what we really need is to return to the original 1 rep per 50,000 rule and make the districts so granular that gerrymandering is impossible (edited)
yes
someone posted a good counter-argument in this chat last week
which I agree with, but still think the benefits of smaller districts would improve things even if you end up with fraud in some areas
Replying to PhrogDor #froglandus2 Kinda sorta, but you gotta deport a fuck load of people first to ensure immigrants don't directly then disenfranchise the voting of the domestic population

New Virginia law banning `assault firearms' prompts quick lawsuits ...
Virginia Gov. Abigail Spanberger has signed legislation banning certain semi-automatic firearms. The new law is to take effect July 1.
apnews.comOur state has already decided not to follow gun laws
So I have to drive to the 2nd closest gun store instead of the closest now
it does suck though, because Virginia had the best gun laws in the country (tied with Wyoming for 1st)
and now we'll lose our spot, even if in-practice the state has said you can pass whatever gun laws you want to feel better about yourself, we're ignoring them
Democrats also hate to be reminded of this fact
