what headway has there been into an P=NP proof beyond looking for examples, if any headway has been made?
The inability to prove the existnce of a counter example is not a valid proof though, that just means we can never know, not that P = NP or P neq NP
I have no idea, the only millenium problem I have any passing knowledge of is Navier Stokes because I took a few courses in fluids
The only way I could see P = NP is if there is a completely different way to do math that is nothing like how we have it now
math as it is now, there 100% is problems that cannot be computed in polynomial time

that is the headway, they proved that all of the problems that they need to look at are fundamentally equivalent
and proving 1 implies they are all true
