and the validation loss being better than the training loss for most of these is because the value is being calculated with what ammounts to differently weighted inner product estimates

cross entropy is how you determine confidence level in classification prediction

you want to maximize confidence

i guess maximize negative cross correlation

so cross entropy is the confidence level, and its a magnitude of bits or like an average
