1600s we knew about all the East Coast animals, and found some Ohio valley stuff in the 1750s-onward
Cardinals, white-tailed deer, turkeys, bears, and all the flavors of small mammals
the Indian dogs were kinda cool looking though

there were wild buffalo in Virginia
like, a couple dozen
I didn't know this

but no
we had 4-legged satans
the east coast ones apparently didn't have big herds, so they'd just hang out with wild cows and horses
