its because they inject them into the raw stream

youtube would have to rewrite a lot to do that

bceause youtube serves the whole file

twitch can just stop the mainj stream, inject ads, switch stream, the main way to cricumvent this before/and now is when youre watching the stream there's a mini stream in the top right when ads play

so adunblockers inject the mini stream when ads would be injected isntead

or they route you through a proxy to a place that doesnt get ads

Twitch being so retarded on adblockers is a big reason I stopped watching anything on the site

Also youtube livestreams run better when internet is doodoofart

yeah because theres like 5 mins of buffering beforehand

twitch prides itself on being almost instant

you can toggle low latency to off on twitch thoguh

Even when I turn off all my blockers, I feel like the stream breaks 1/3 of the time

And I have to load another stream, and swap back to fix it

i never got into watching livestreams in general but twitch is so awful to use

Not that I watch that many streams passively, but it's a kick in the nuts every time I go to watch and it breaks

Twitch could be instantaneous beamed into my brain, if I can't block ads it is worth less than something than takes 5 minutes to load

Twitch’s player has always been bad and I hate it, but for the longest time it was way better as a live platform than YouTube. They’re roughly the same now for the live experience I think, but for vods YouTube is easily superior

Twitch also is super fucking bad with ad spam more now than it’s ever been
