I wonder if they're going to make all blizzard games run on Xbox now too?

You can play Classic and Shadowlands side by side, and the only things they've really implemented into the game engine on live/retail/modern/whatever you want to call it that used to require addons are showing you quest givers, objectives, and turn-ins on the map, and dungeon maps & loot interfaces.
Replying to sudo TPK #sylfar WoW could run perfectly fine on Xbox - they've already added in built-in gamepad support - but you'd probably only be able to play it at casual levels because it relies so heavily on player-made addons for so fucking much in the game.
eh, you can play without them they just add 1000000 qol features
Eh, when you rely on things like DBM/BigWigs, Weakauras, etc for raiding & M+, Bartender for sorting your action bars, ElvUI or something to replace the stock UI because it does NOT go well with a controller, timers to track cooldowns, stuff to monitor shit on other players in arena/RBGs, etc. you're limited with what you can do.
