Sideways Stories from Wayside School, when I was much younger
was the first satire I read I think
the series I am trying to remember has the main character keep using an ability that makes him stop being human, but he minimizes its use so it can be reverted eventually
but he gives up at the end and becomes god
I feel like I've read it, but all my childhood books are in boxes and I'll never remember
another one I likes was basically good Narnia

The movies did well until they turned people's favorite book into the worst movie
there's a Pendragon prequel series apparently
this was a great series too
The prequel 3 books for Pendragon were odd
really hit-or-miss on the side stories
Nicholas Flamel got old by the 3rd or 4th book
Starcatchers was good, though I don't feel like I read all of them
